Can anyone help me, I want to buy a 155mm Howiter (1/35 scale), which one did the Marnies use in Vietnam? I have the m101, 105mm by Italeri, and the m102, 105mm, the one with the Hobby fan figures.
What sort of numbers of 155mm( feild guns)Howiters were in Vietnam?

The M114 was the 155mm howitzer of choice. It is made by Italeri (older Testors and Peerless boxings too) and called an M1 155mm howitzer. The tires really need to be changed though, they don't look right. Tires from Tamiya's Dragon Wagon fit it perfectly.
Here is a link to a build on it.
USMC also used M53 155mm SP howitzers. Sorry, no kits of them.

Thank's for your qick respose.
I have just started modeling again and have found this sight and never want to leave!
I want to build a dio of a fire base, or at least a few Howitzers and crew, gun pit's. I like the look of the Hobby fan base but don't like the price, also if they went to that much trouble to dig the Gun in wouldn't the ammo have been dug in and sand bagged?
My son's grand father was in the USMC 64-68, in the photos i have you can seen a lot off the stuctures on the base were made with the left over ammo boxes from the Howitzer's, dose any one know the dimmentions of these in 1/35 scale?

Hey there!!
Gino's got it covered.
However, you may want to go back and delete your other post https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/72444&page=1 as it is a duplicate.

Is this a fair representation of the M1 mentioned? It's by MAX....tho it's an -A2, does it also need the 'Wagon wheels??

Here are links to the Peerless Max, Italeri and Testors boxings. The Italeri and Testors versions are the old Peerless Max kit retooled minus the metal parts.

Original Peerless Max 155mm
AFV Club did the 155mm Long Tom, don't know if the Marines used them in Nam though.

155mm ammo come on a wooden pallet with a wooden top piece that geats all banded together. AFV Club makes an ammo set for 155mm and 8" (203mm) that includes the wooden pallets. It also comes with powder cans as well.
AFV Club ammo set
As Rob stated above, the Testors/Italeri/Peerless-Max kits are all basically the same, with P-M having some metal parts (barrel, recouperators, springs, etc.).

This is an M55, same chassis w/8" gun as the M53 with 155mm gun. There was an ancient Renwal/Revel kit from the mid '60s of an M53, but it is a collectors item and can go for $100+ on eBay.
It was built on a modified M47 tank chassis.
