Hi Guys, here is my March 2006 MOM entry. Some of these pics have been seen, others are new. It is the New Tamiya 1.35th scale StuG III B. It was built completly OOTB and painted with Tamiya and Vallejo paints. Weathering is with oils and reverse dry brushing.

Really nice paint work Jon, especially the wooden handles in pic #6. I've been starting at em for 10 minutes now trying to figure out how you got it so realistic

Excellent work John! It just goes to show what you can build out of the box....................... as long as you're highly skilled that is! Great finishing!

But, what's reverse dry brushing ???

Thanks guys!

Richard the kit was alot of fun to build - not nearly as detailed as the new DML kits - but still fun!

Graeme the wood tone is Vallejo flat flesh, top coated with burnt umber oil paint that has had most of the linseed oil pulled out. After sitting on the flesh for 10 minutes its wiped clean with a flat brush dampened in turpeniod and cleaned after each pass.

Yes Vinnie OOTB can be fun, and lets you get to the painting stage much faster!

Paul re-verse drybrushing is a tem that I coined to describe the techique to show wear in weathering. Basically you use darker and darker shades of the base colors insted of lighter and ligher colors to hit high spots where the crew would rub off dust, mud, rust, etc, as they moved about the vehicle.

Cheers!

Hi Carl! Its a fun kit. Not as detailed as the new DML kits, but I tell you is was not difficuult to assemble either. The DML IV E I am working on now is NOT easy, but sure is detailed.

Alas, no cow. :-)
