Surfing through eBay at lunch time. This one is at $122, isn't that more than the last time someone got one for over $100 ($112 or so IIRC).

Modeler's Guide to the Sherman on eBay

BTW, when is the second one inbound?

The revised edition is supposed to be out this quarter I think. It may be 2nd qtr CY 06.

That is absolutely assanine to pay that much for that. They would be better off throwing in another $100.00 and buying Hunnicutt's Sherman book.

The fact that only two bidders are fighting for the book immediately raises MY suspicions

Asinine, is exactly the word I would use for a price like this. The only possible defence I could make is perhaps these two are unaware of the (forthcoming) new edition. Whatever, IMHO, it's absurd although each to their own...Jim

Don't be suspicious Jim. You can't underestimate the foolishness of some ebay bidders!!! (the fact that only two bidders are slugging it out at the end is fairly common -- and it doesn't seem that either of these is a "ghost" bidder affiliated with the seller)

Recently there was a $1200 final bid for the On Track 10.5cm Grasshopper model.

There are buyers for $25 Tamiya 88mm Flak 36/37 kits out there.

I once sold off three atrocious I-Corps resin piles of garbage, BARV, Duplex Drive Sherman and T1E1 Minerollers. (I had gotten them for $15 in order to do some research on one of the T1E1 minerollers)

The minerollers were useless for even research value. Rather than throw the kits away, I listed them, just hoping to recoup my $15. In my listing, I plainly citied my opinions of the kits and included clear (and damning) photos. People bid it up to $46!!!

The MMIR book is up to $167.50 by the way. Hurry folks, only five hours left.

Maybe I'll sell my Hunnicutt for the money to buy this MMIR book?!? NOT

LOL

It would be real nice if MMiR surprised us all at the AMPS Nats next month with the 2nd Edition. I bet they'd sell every one they bring. Here's dreaming and keeping my fingers crossed!

Looks like the book went for $167.50. I hope he gets free shipping for that amount!

If this were March 2011, you might be close to reality. . .

Are we talking about the Military Miniatures in Review book called "Modeler's Guide to the Sherman," by Pete Harlem? It just sold on eBay for $167.50?

If that's indeed the book we're talking about here, boy am I ever glad I picked it up at an LHS a few months ago for $1500 yen! ($12.60 USD). What a crazy world we live in...

Looking forward to the updated version, if it ever comes out.

Yes Brian, that is the one. I bought mine when it first came out for about $15-18.
