Okay, some update pics of my Warrior.

Had to add a couple of broken or missing bits (the white parts)

Main paint on:

The Warrior is about halfway painted. Does anybody think It's underpainted? Should there be more sand colour?

The tracks I hope to do tonight but they seem a bit loose.

Where the did I put the headlights? I bored them out and added tinfoil inside and now can't find them.

Hmm. Why are the pics so small?

Nice looking model. The entire model looks like its bleached from the sun but, there should be areas where the basic sand color wouldn't be bleached such as the road wheels and areas that won't have direct access to sun light. Is this Revell AG's 1/72 model or Acadamy's 1/35 model?

Hello mate,

The bleached look is more from my hurried phtography than from light paint. I set the exposure for too long a setting. It's actually a couple of stops lighter than it should be.

This is the academy 1/35th Iraq 2003 version. Quite a nice model to build with no nasty surprises. The turret basket and mesh is a bit of a killer though. It just never seems to sit properly.

Nice painting so far. You could give it more pre-shading than you did.
The tracks are really loose on the visible side. You could try cutting one link and sewing both ends together.

This is a picture on the correct exposure.

Olivier, yes the tracks really are far too loose. I'll have to cut a bit off and sew it or staple it as you say. Thankfully on this kit half the top track can be missing as it cant be seen. :-)

As for the pre-shading, this is the first time I've used Xtracrylix paints from Hannants. It seems to go on either very watery or totally obliterates the pre-shading 'cos it's too thick. I'll have to work on the mix. It constantly blocks my airbrush tip too.

I think I'll go back to using Tamiya acrylics, had absolutly no problems with that stuff. Great paint!

Can anybody please tell me why the pics are so small, is it something I'm doing wrong in the selection?

Hey Murdo,

i have been experimenting with the Xtracrylics, and various thinners. What i have found so far, is that Hannats own thinners are the best, but it seems to need a lot, almost a 50/50 paint/thinner mix to achieve good results with the air brush. I also tried tap water, as suggested on the bottle, but this did not perform at all well.

As for the Warrior, i would suggest you lighten the base colour and spray the center of the panels with this mix to give some variation to the colour, something closer to a "bleached" look......keep up the good work!

Regards from the Swamp

Murdo,
you're not doing anything wrong when copying and pasting the pics. Your initial pics are quite heavy, you'd better upload pics sized 800x600. Thus when copying a picture in the forum, you could have a non-resized picture.
Otherwise, when you open your picture, click on it one more time to view it in full size. Right-click on it and select properties, copy the url.
Back in your post, click on the img button and paste the picture url.

Thanks Marcel.

The original pic from my Canon D60 is 3.38Mb in size, this has been reduced through the computer to 68Kb.

Good work on your Warrior.

One question, is the stowage bin that you did not mount on the left rear side of the hull a modification?

I thought this bin was still mounted but it was modified with a new lid that doesn't have the pressed X.

Hi Murdo

I also working on the same kit but i just use the PE from Eduard nice effect and this will give you a better effect on the turret basket. The one you have can be improve but you are right this is the bottleneck of the kit real pain in the

For the tracks i have to check mine
Keep working you are on the good tracks :-) :-)
