Hi all,
browsing some Russian sites for info about the MT-LB6, I came across this odd vehicle.
It looks like a lengthened BRDM or a modified BTR-70 with a BMP1 turret and the belly wheels replaced by a short 3 roadwheels tracked running gear.
Does anybody know how is named this thing ?

It's the Obietk 19, the Rubtsovk automobile factory proposal for the BMP competition held in the early 60's. Like all BMPs proposals, it was fitted with the 2A28 Grom 73mm low-pressure gun and the 9M14 Malytuka ATGM.
It was envisonned that the vehivle would be driven with the 4x4 wheeled configuration on roads or easy terrain, and that the secondary tracked running gear would be lowered over rougher terrain (a bit like the EBR)
This prototype obviously lost due to it's over-complicated mechanical design and an unpractical layout as the engine was in the rear.
AFAIK, this vehicle is still visible at the Kunbika Armor Museum near Moscow.
Hope it helps !

Thanks for the answer. The site where this picture comes from show other interesting ones with the vehicle on the move during an armament exhibition in the recent years (2003-04).
