Here it is... Fully accurized Academy M151A1C Mutt.

It was a long build, very long actually

List of fixes made :
- scratchbuilt front susp. upper arms (there were none in the kit)
- corrected (scratchbuilt) rear susp. arms to fit the A1 version
- steering wheel backdated to the A1 standard
- scratchbuilt gun travel lock ( again none were included )
- added floor panels underside the jeep
- added splash guard (donor: spare TOW mutt) for the spare wheel
- added windshield heater slots

As well as some other minor details...
Most of those details were inspired or pointed out by members of this fine site!

The driver is a converted dragon figure, painted with GW acrylics.
Coke can is made from a piece of sprue.

In progress pics

It's also my entry for Welcome to the Nam campaign and Dragon MOM for March.
Anyway here are the photos:

As always any and all comments are welcome!

Cheers

Very nice!
Beautiful painting, including the fig. Blond hair is not easy to make, which paint and colors did you use?
Nice details with the coke can.

The passenger will not have a lot of room with that gun!

Thanks for nice comment Nicoropi. Im glad you like it!

All colors on the figureare are acrylics from the GW Citadel Colour range
The hair are pained with Bubonic Brown, highlighted with Bleached Bone on the base of Bestial Brown (I was always wondering what for they name their colors like that)

Jeep is painted with a custom mix of Humbrol enamels no. 155, 33 and 86 I think I even added a drop of red into the mix.
And I thought the same thing about the room for the pasenger

Cheers

Just a curiosity question more than anything, is the star on the hood backwards? I thought the single point should be going towards the windshield.

Very nice job on the painting and weathering. It looks to me that you drove the real thing into a white room and took pictures of it. Very impressive!

Excellent rendition Pedro. Very realistic. The star is pointing in the right direction for the Nam era (one of my pet peeves with the model companies instruction sheets). The finish is first class and I can almost smell the red clay dust. Very haunting to me. Thanks for the build and sharing.

Thanks for the kudos Cory!

In fact all the stars on the hood of vehicles in vietnam were just like this one, pointing towards the front of the vehicle. I dont' know why, maybe so it would point the way or something along this lines.

So do a lot of us !
I like your model. It's neat and realistic. I second Nicoropi, you did a great paint job on the figure.

Thank you Olivier for your comment!
Well, my girlfriend says it is probably her influence that I build nicer models than before :-)

Very.. very nice, I like it,

Can you share with me how you convert the figure (any more in progress photos on the figure), I was looking to have the similar driver for my jeep.

and the hair, do you sketch build it?

Hi masterqq, I don't know if you clicked the "in progress" link
but those two pictures here are all I can offer you on the subject
of in progress shots.

Mainly figure was chopped from a half kneeling guy of the Dragons Khe Sanh set of figures. After that I drilled
a hole in every part that was cut and joined them with pieces of brass wire of appropriate lenght. Then I had
to fill the gaps which was done with Greenstuff two part putty. The hair was also done with the above.

If you have any further qustions, just ask, I'll be happy to help:)

Cheers
