Hi,
I know I am being lazy because I am sure this topic has been covered.
As a returning modeler I have decided to start with a simpler vehicle before going for Tiger II's in ambush cammo. I am building the Tamiya Sd Kfz 222 OOB so I avoid tracks and I am painting it in Panzer Grey.
Question is, can someone give me the links to Armorama articles on painting vehicles in this color, as I need to re-learn (I was never any good at it to begin with) airbrushing, washes and weathering vehicles. Any advice would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Charles

Jan,
Thanks for the link. The article is great. This seems consistent with other articles discussing spraying the center of panels a lighter color. I have a couple of questions regarding the coats of paint:
1. Why spray the vehicle black and then a light coat of Dark grey? Is this for shadowing? Will it not make the model too dark?
2. Shouldn't the center of the panels be darker? the reason I ask is that I would think that the edges would receive more wear and tear.
3. Regarding the blending of the demacration lines, what is this misting? Is it very thin paint or spraying for a further distance away?
4. The last coat of light gray, will it not cover all the previous work?
Thanks,
Charles

If chance will have it, I'll be brush-painting a Sdkfz 232 pretty soon, with what I'm sure will be sub-par results. Still, thanks for the link.

The preshading using the black paint. Spray along the panel lines and into the little crevices. This is to get a more 3d effect, liken it to shadows. The light mist is to brighten up certain areas once again to help give it a more three D effect. By misting, you hold the airbrush further away and just lightly spray for effect. You are not seeking to cover the entire vehicle with the lighter grey.
