Hi guys,
I've finally finished my first ASLAV-25 (or Type 1in Aussie speak). :-)

It's based on the Trumpeter kit, with a heap of modifications to convert it to an Australian LAV, such as:
- new engine deck and muffler
-tank telephone box on the RH rear
-new sight heads on the turret
-new drivers hatch hinge
-new front and rear light clusters
-new stowage on both sides
-as well as a number of smaller changes, Smoke Grenade Dischargers, etc.

It's finished in A Sqn, 2nd Cavalry Regiment markings using Gunze acrylics, with a wash of Gouche acrylic paints and a mandatory cover of buff for dust.
I hope you enjoy looking and welcome any feedback/comments.

G'day Brett,
Not bad, not bad at all.
Couple of things, no Mag 58 mount? If you need I have a few drawings and photos.
The GPS mount looks great but the actual antenna should at the top remain a medium green colour.
The spent link chute is hard to see if there are panel lines as this whole section lifts up.
And the vissy blocks on the side of the hull need to be painted.
Sorry one more thing, the Aux power hatch needs to be scribed a bit larger.

Did you use Maple Leaf Models tyres?

Again, not bad at all Brett. Good to see more RAAC models out there.

Cheers Jason

PS Did you use the Defence Models and Graphic’s set on this one??

Everyone, Thanks for the kind words,

Looks sweet, but I thought the ASLAV (no 25) had a different turret and Airconditioning unit........

Roderick,
The turret is the same basic build as the US Marine, SANG and I believe Stryker (I'm happy to be corrected on Stryker), but is an all electric drive and has different sights, antenna mounts, etc.
The vehicle itself does have aircon, just mounted in the hull.

Jason
I should've mentioned that I built this on commission and ran out of time to add the MAG 58 mount.and also had to shortcut the other items, unfortunately.
Yes I would like to get a copy of the MAG 58 drawings if you don't mind.
Yes, I used Maple leaf wheels, pretty neat aren't they? The only problem with them is fixing them to the Trumpeter Hull........interesting.
No. I didn't use Defence Models stuff, all you see is my own work. In the Aussie Community site is an "in progress" shot showing some of the resin parts used.

Seb,
I made the tie down rails with fine copper wire, as I already had the wire formed from a previous model with a resin hull (had to use super glue anyway). Next time I'd use styrene, just use normal glue.

Sorry, I realised I referred to the wrong vehicle when I said Stryker...I actually meant the GEN III 25mm armed LAV.
The turret used on the ASLAV is the same basic turret as the NZ LAV.
Please excuse my mistake.
