I am thinking of buying a pre made building for a dio and was wondering which companies use plaster and which tend to be vacuformed or resin.
I am thinking more of buying a plaster item and was wondering the pros and cons of this over plastic.
Many thanks

Robbo,
If you can get your hands on a building from Plus model... They are beautifuly made, out of plaster.

Plaster is light, nice details, vacuformed buildings are cheap but they are a pain to put together, to the point where it can impact the final result.

I have never used a building made out of resin, but from the figure experience, I guess they would have the best level of detail, easy to sculpt if you wanted to add details, and they would also be very expensive!

All in all, the best is to choose the one that has the best shape for your project!

Plaster
Pro:
usualy good texture (brickwork and damaged plaster)
Easy to add your own 'damage'
Cons
Heavy
Prone to breakage
needs primer coat as plaster soaks up paint like a sponge

Resin
pro
excellent small detail possible
lighter than plaster
Cons
expensive
brittle, breakage needs superglue

Plastic (vac-form)
pro
Cost, usualy a lot cheaper than the other options
lightweight
easy to glue and work.
Cons
detail can be less crisp than resin
vac-form is more work in preparation

Cheers
Henk
