Hi everyone. I am in the process of building a 1/48 Monogram B-25J and am wondering how to weather over top of the very dark OD finish, especially for the panel lines, even the exhaust stains may be hard to pick-up, the little pre-shading that I did is completely gone. I used Tamiya acrylic OD.
Here is a shot of it after the future coat in preperation for the decals.
I would appreciate any and all advice.
Thanks

Hi Ted,
First, really nice job on the B-25J. I'm working on an AM B-25C that I intend to finish in the same paint scheme (also using Tamyia paint) and I just asked a similar question over on the ARC site. I haven't tried this yet, but one suggestion was to lightly overspray the painted and decaled model with a thin mixture of light grey and clear flat to give the paint a faded look. Then you could bring out the panel lines with a wash and add the exhaust stains. I'm going to experiment first, but this idea sounded pretty good to me. I hope you'll post some pics of your finished model - I am just about to the pre-shading stage with mine.

Thanks for the suggestions Barry. I am not brave enough to try that, maybe someday when my skills have improved.
I have completed this build, you can have a look at it in the Aircraft forums.
Thanks again
