Greetings all,
I was wondering if anyone had ever used the Tamiya Paint Markers and if they would be any use when painting/writing tank numbers and names etc?
Thanks in advance
Al

I bought two many years ago. I found they laid down too much paint and it was very difficult to control the flow of paint. The tip was way too wide for any detail applilcation, as well. I think it would be very hard to do any number other than 1, 4 or 7 with these. Maybe they've changed. You could get one and try it out on a scrapped kit.

I would steer clear if you are anticipating painting with them. At one time it was said that you could trim down the paint head to make a fine nib, for painting windshield rubber surrounds. You can buy packets of replacement push in tips. However, they either seemed to not work at all, or you got a huge pool of paint if you pushed just a little too hard.
They are great for marking boxes describing the contents when you move house.

I have no firsthand knowledge, but I have heard/read frequently that the best thing about the Tamiya markers is how fine the pigment is in the silver marker. I know many people dab some paint onto a palette and then apply with a brush or drybrush it when they want a very shiny silver finish. It is supposed to be very good for that purpose.

Got to agree with Steve there... I use their silver marker for drybrushing. Very fine pigments.
