Hi all,
Need to gather some feedback again and where is the best place to go ? :-)
I am thinking of doing a tiger inital production in Panzer grey.....
Looked around and found that both Tamiya and Dragon (3-in-1) has this model....
Which model is more value for money in-term of fitting and accuracy ? It is easy to find review for Dragon...but no review for the Tamiya one...

No competion - DML. However, be aware that this is a complex kit - not quite the most recommendable for a beginner..Jim

If you want a quick build then go with the Tamiya kit,but be warned that to get the best from the kit you may need lots of after market items.ie metal gun barrel, and etched screens.
now for the same price as the Tamiya kit you have the dragon kit with all them lovely extras.
but as jim mentioned its a bit more complexed than the Tamiya.
the choice is yours.

Academy has a pretty decent Tiger I intial (early) production model,it's offered two ways
exterior only #01386
or with detailed interoir #01348
my son was able to pick one up on ebay,it was around $25.00 ,he painted his the dark panzer gray ,model went together real nice ,and looks sharp in the dk. gray.

hi,
My choice was DML and never regretted it. But for 6252, u may consider getting aftermarket PE for the engine grill as they are not included in the package.
Speaking of Academy's, I was in fact drooling over the kit at one of the LHS couple of days ago when my wife commented: who will see the interiors when you guys always covered it up?
Now, can folks here give me some light to this?
Cheers!

the Academy model is very well detailed.our son picked up the model without the detailed interoir #01386,kind of the same reason ,plus it was less expensive ,as i wrote early ,he was able to pick his up on ebay ,with shipping ,it was around $25.00 ,it does have the individual track links ,which went together very nicely ,he's talked about hoping to get another one of these early production Tiger I 's ,by Academy .and build that one for the North Africian theather

Interiors can be seen by posing the hatches open, or by modelling the tank so you can remove the turret roof or hull top.
Go with the DML kit. It's the same price as the Tamiya kit, but lacks the extras the DML kit has.

I just finished the DML Tiger I initial production about a month ago. For the most part it's an easy build. Like an other model on the market if you take you time and test fit you will be rewarded with a good looking model. Yes there are many aftermarket pieces included in the box. Take you time and test fit.
IMO it's the best and easiest to build.

Hi everyone, I've just started building the DML Initial Tiger I, and it is a lovely model, but I wouldn't know about the Tamiya kit as I havn't built it!

Hi Philip ...It all really depends on what you are planning to do with your kit...If you want an "initial as seen with the 502nd well the DML kit is the one for you ..but you must realize that you can only make one of a very few tanks that were built like this...You'll have to pick up a set of screens for the tank but the rest can be built OOB ...the tracks included are the mirror type track and were used on maybe the first ten tigers produced ..
The Tamiya Initial kit is more typical of the Initials seen with the 501st that were seen in Africa..it has the Feifel aircleaners, sideskirts and the front lights that were lowered .
Which is more detailed ? DML for sure but it all depends on what you are looking for ...
Now if you were comparing the DAK from Cyber Hobbies and the Tamiya kit it would be easier to say the CH kit is much better .Harder to build ..not really because if you do all the corrections that need to be done on the Tamiya kit ..you've got your work cut out for you...I know I was building the Tamiya kit and just put it away as soon as I got the CH kit .
So after all this babbling it all depends on what you have in mind ...for one of the first few 502 tigers go with the DML kit...for a later "initial " Tamiya's is better.unless you can find a Cyber Hobby kit somewhere.

I've dealt with all 3 (Academy). If you want the interior go with the Academy. An easy, non-complicated straight build....the Tamiya. The best kit for the money but a far more challenging build the DML. You can find all types on ebay and probaly get a good deal on any one you decide upon.

Thanks everyone for the useful information....
Looks like DML is ahead of the list again...followed by Academy and Tamiya.....
But guess what....I went to Hobby easy and Luckymodel and both do not have the Tiger Initial 3-in-1 in stock again.....
What is going here....first, I cannot find the T34/85 from DML and now this Tiger initial 3-in-1 seems to be out too.....Am I under somekind of vodoo Jinx or what.........
