I know this question will result in a major 'Doh' moment, but I need to know...
Can the .50 MG be fed from both sides, or are the ones on the righthand side specially adapted? Mounted upside down?

You know those moments when you spot something after having looked at it for years and suddenly you think 'hold on...'..., well, I just had one of those...

Cheers

All versions of the M2 come left-hand feed enabled from the factory. IIRC, to switch to right hand feed, a simple changing of a gear or cam inside is all that is required. .

Steve is correct. Any .50 cal can be made into a right feed by swapping around some parts.

Are those parts already in the .50 or new external parts dropped in?

They are all there. Just have to turn some levers and cogs around so it feeds from the other direction.

Turn bolt switch on top of bolt. Roller runs in this track activating feed slide assembly which also needs changing, along with the belt feed pawls. Might be leaving something out as it's been a while. We don't normally hump these. (although we could)

Just reread your post. While the upside down part was probably meant in jest, this is one of the few guns which doesn't fire well in that configuration due to the shell ejection through the bottom rather than the side. Not that you'd ever run into this situation, but the aircraft mounted ones did.
