Just a quick question. Did all Panther A's have Zimmerit?

Quick answer: No. But I'd guess over 95% of them did. There was a brief window of time (a couple of weeks, basically) in which the A was being produced prior to the widescale introduction of zimmerit. Thomas Jentz has determined that several of the A models did indeed leave the factory without it. He has a photo of one such vehicle in his seminal work "Germany's Panther Tank: The Quest for Combat Supremacy."

Steve,
Do you know where I can get any infromation on where these would have been deployed?

Now that one stumps me. I have many books on the development/specs of the Panther but I have practically nothing on combat/deployment history. I'm not even sure if the aforementioned photo in Jentz's book identifies the vehicle's unit.
I don't think the Jentz book has a listing of vehicle assignments, but I will check when I get home. If I find anything, I'll follow up here.

Well then, that's a big no. That creature's entire run was during the zimmerit period. Of course you can never say never with German armor, but unless you have the photo to prove it, you are looking at an ahistorical combination of features.
