After putting quite a bit of work into some modifications of the Tamiya kit about four or five years ago I had to leave modeling for awhile. Now that I've taken it up again, I could really use some help on locating some good references--preferably online-- in order to complete it. One of the things I did was to open several of the vision ports using as a reference a large photo of a restored Ausf.G in "German Tanks of WWII in Color." As well as I can tell, the covers are solid without slits in them. Is that correct? If anyone could steer me toward any detailed photos of open ports I'd appreciate it.
I've also been trying to locate a good photo of the appropriate jack so I can build one to replace the one in the kit, which to me looks too bulky and in general simply not right. Any suggestions?

Thanks Ian. That was very helpful indeed. Those are some excellent detail photos, and it confirmed once and for all what I had thought about the vision port covers.
