Hi all,
I would like to know if anybody here has already built this kit ? Basically it is a Revell LAV with resin turret and wheels, and some white metal parts.

What is it worth ?

This conversion seems to be a mystery.

I wonder if any corrections have been made to the Italeri turret?

I had heard all the LAV-ADs have been withdrawn from service...too bad.

At least some were still used during the first stages of OIF....One is pictured in Concord's Special Ops Vol.26 "Road to Baghdad"

Hi Jason
HP is right some were still in use in OIF. I got pictures in the Raids special issue.
IIRC, they were NATO or green camoed.
The turret is resin but I can't compare with the Italeri one that's why I posted this here.

The LAV-ADs are rare...only 18 were built due to the end of the Cold War and other more important projects.

They come out of the factory OD green (I know, I emailed the Project Manager before 9/11), but he believes that the USMC will camo them. I don't think they ever did. The interior is "sea foam green" IIRC.

The 18 form one unit I believe in Camp Pendleton. Only a handful were dispatched to OIF AFAIK due to the lack of an air threat.

Guys,

I know that the LAV-AD was used in OIF...I have images of them there.

All of them were deployed to Iraq, and formed Echo Company, callsign Renegade, attached to 3rd LAR. That was in 2003...3 years ago.

All of them were painted in the single colour NATO green.

I heard directly from a Marine that since OIF they have since been withdrawn from service.

After OIF they were brought back to the U.S. and the turrets were removed and sent to the United States Marine Corps Systems Command which means they were mothballed, and the hulls were supposed to become NBC recon vehicles.

Sorry if I didn't clarify the timeline for them being withdrawn from service.
