Gday all
This is about my umpteenth silly little question regarding my M4A1 (76) build, but I want to make her as accurate as possible... This one is in regards to the base of the gun tube at the mantlet... The polished/worn steel finish I'm assuming is from the recoil of the gun; now I want to know the length to display this... In normal measurement if possible... Looks to be approx. 8mm?
All help here appreciated
Cheers
Bradley

I don't have mine handy (the one in the gallery) but 8mm is over 1/4 which sounds a tad much. I thinking about 6.5mm. I remember being just as obsessive. (although I missed the step in the barrel.) I think I based my measurement off of one at 45th ID museum, but it was long ago.

Completely understandable. I'm not a rivet counter but...
If a thing is missing rivets you might as well them...
And if you add them, you might as well put the right number...
And they might as well be the same size and shape...
And if one is missing, maybe there was a flaw in the design of the vehicle that made that one rivet pop out on each and every vehicle...
Nope, I'm certainly not counting any rivets.
