Hi all,
here is the interior nearly complete. I will probably add some crew stuff before glueing the roof and the TOW wiring if I don't forget it !

I use pastel powder to weather it instead of my usual technique. I think it's overdone.
Let me know what you think of it.
TIA

Looking good. The weathering looks fine to me. They get quite dusty/dirty over in Iraq.

Yeah right, Olivier! As you are going to forget that! :-)
Your interior looks great. If I should be a really nit-pick it must be the contact covers of your TOW missiles. The contacts got a black plastic "lid" which have to be removed before loading a missile into the launcher. But to correct that might be to go a bit overboard. Looking forward to more progress pics.

I think it is still possible to paint them black. But I never noticed that before. Are the lids you mention those round parts on the tube ?

Yup, I don't know the correct english term, but that is pretty much it. The Tow missiles are molded with just a ring but the contact is much more complex than the Tamiya molding. Pete should have some pics of it since he works with these babies. However, this is just a minor detail, and I'm not sure if it will even show in 1:35.

Thanks Erik.
That's what I understood. I just have to get the right way of plugging the wiring now !

Looking good. Brings back some fond memories. Like about 6 years worth, where I spent on and lead 4 M966 versions.

1 small nic-pick area. It how you have the gunner's platform and the traversing unit mount ring on the floor. If my memory serves me correctly the gunner's platform is actually set in the center and the mounting ring actually sits off to the side.

Maybe some of the others that are still have access to the TOW HMWWV can verify this.

Hi Edward,
I set the parts according to the kit instructions and the Verlinden warmachines issue. I can still set them otherwise if anyone confirms they're ill-placed. The roof is not yet glued.

Dear Olivier
Really nice piece of work
Just a question how did you do the tubbing for the AC near to the passenger seat ?
It look really to me.
Did you wire a small wire around a big wire an then apply a peice of paper soak with PVA glue ??
or not

Cheers

Thanks for the picture Tomek, it is clearer now but makes the Tamiya representation of the lid less accurate

Seb, the air hose is just a piece of sprue. I make the indentation with a pair of scissors while turning the sprue. Then you can either apply some liquid cement or sand it to remove the excess of plastic and get this look. It can be improved I'm sure but once the doors closed, it should do the trick.

Hi Oliver,

tried to see if any of my slides and prints from my M966 life had any interior shots. But alas, I couldn't find any. However, I did locate my TM 9-23202-180-10 (Operators manual for the HMMWV). Here's the actual approved loadplan as of 1996. It is also in my gallery in the misc section

I thought this might help you with placement of equipment. BTW, while the Army had these loadplans there was some flexability allowed.

The tanker roll (Sleeping bag) was usually kept in the rucksack etc.

I see one thing that's missing.

I believe it was called the vehicle power conditioner, it's mounted to the back of the TC's seat, it had one cable running to the vehicle batteries, and another cable provided power to either the system or maybe the thermal sight.......Been too long can't remember.

It looks like a simple box with 2 connectors on it.

Thanks Edward and Jeff,
I'll try to correct your points. I have no idea of your power box Jeff and will look closer to my ref pics. I have been away from modeling these late days being busy with collecting pics for the gallery.

I still have to look for ref about the various wiring and cables to and from the TOW launcher. I already got Pete's (EPI) but those technical data in English are not that simple to properly figure out how all of this works.
