I'm currently trying to find a substitute for Blaken-it. Does anybody know what type of metal friulmodels tracks is.

I'ts white metal, like the one used for casting metal figures...

I need the chemical composition. Is it nikkel, tin or lead?

The base is made by tin, lead and antimonium. I'm sure about it but I don't know the exactr proportions...

Smaller detailed parts tend to have more tin. Larger parts have a higher percentage of lead. I'd say with the detail required in Fruil tracks they have a higher tin content.

I believe Vinigar will work, but it takes much longer. I think i read it somewhere, but i have never tried it.

Hi,
I've already tried chlorhydric acid (HCl) and it works fine on Friul tracks. However, they are not black but more dull grey.

yes, I tried nitric acid, although only a 5% aq. solution, and I end up with this dull grey aswell.
