Hi,

Also posted in the 'wanted to buy' section, but thought I might try here to get some info about what's out there. Have searched Amazon and can't seem to find much. Would like to know what any of you guys think is good.

I'm looking for any books, photographs, magazines, etc about the Israel Defense Forces. Looking for items with photos for my reference collection. Interested in small arms, armor, special units, campaigns, etc.

Thanks!
Steve

Get ready:
S. Katz, Fire & Steel (Pocket Books)
Steve Zaloga, Armour of the Middle East Wars (Osprey)
S. katz: Israeli Defence Forces since 1973 (Osprey)J. Laffin, M. Chappell: Isreali Army in the Middle East Wars 1948-73 (Osprey)
S. Katz: Isreali Special Forces (Motorbooks International)
S. Katz: Modern Isreali Tanks and Combat Vehicles (Arms & armour Press)
S. Katz: Isreali Elite Units since 1948 (Osprey)
S. katz: Isreal's Armor Might (Concord )
M. Mass IDF Tiran 4, 5 and 6 (Verlinden Warmachines)
? Israeli M4 Sherman and variants (Verlinden Warmachines)
S. Katz: Israel's Cuttibng Edge (Concord)
S. Katz: Battleground Lebanon (Concord)
related: S. Katz: Arab Armies of the Middle East Wars
Also, I think by Zaloga, but I can't put my hands on it, Concord has tank Battles of the Middle East.

I don't know how many are in preint right now. Also, Katz has several glaring errors,as when he describes the folded TOW tripod as spare missiles. #:-)

Thanks for the lists guys! Unfortunately, most seem to be out ot print, so it may take some searching.

Saw some on the used book sites. But, they want $30 for a Concord book that's only a few years old!

Hi steve,
You might want to check out my site I've listed all the books that I have and some I know about with small notes as to content. you can find alot of them on ebay or through ABEBOOKSEARCH. I would however say that at some point especially the older(48-73 books ) the pics get redundant. If you need specific help ask here or on the Yahoo groups Idf group at

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/idf_armour/

or if you speak and can type hebrew the Israel modeller site

http://www.geocities.com/israelmodeler/

My site is at

I recommend Waronline as posted earlier. Great site. Mostly Russian though but IIRC, it has an article on the different Merkava variants, IDF OOB, and lots of pictures. One of the site contributors/staff is Tzefa who you could catch also at TankNet (www.tank-net.org)
