Friends,
Can anybody tell me how to make realistic hay / straw in a 1/35 scale ? This hay / stray can really spice up my contest dio, but I've got no ideas on how to make realistic hay or straw. All ideas are welcome here.

Helo Eagle old friend, try using something called "plumbers flax" This is used by plumbers around the pipe joints to inhibit leaking and nicely simulates staw/hay/long summer grass. Alternatively, The model train places do a package of high grass/hay. You get a lot for your money, but I'm not sure if it is the brand Faller/Märklin/Hekki or other. Finally, Woodland scenics also do this type of grass. If you require the Woodlands stuff, we stock that via our shop.

Jack,
my old Liechtenstein friend.... Just before New Years Eve we meet again.... it's been some time though....where have you been hiding ?
About that Woodland Scenics...I'm very interested ! Do you have a pricelist ? If you do so, could you please add the P&P rates please.
btw a very good hint on the hay. The thing you described "plumbers flax" is called "Apenhaar" (Monkeys Hair) over here !!
A very good tip ! Thanks !
If we don't "meet" again before midnight.....A Very Happy New Year !!

Eagle - nice addition - Another thought about hay is to go to a flower shop. They have 'scarggly' looking 'bedding' material for artificial flower arrangements. It's used to cover the foam that hold the 'flowers'. Not sure of the name of it. If you wanted I'm sure a bit of description at the flower shop would get your point across.
Keep up the good work.

If you have a craft store nearby, you may be able to find some of those miniature decorative brooms. Cut the heads off them and voila - instant straw/hay.
