My question is this,,,,is Alclad a polishable paint as is the metalizer from testor ??? And, which one gives the better "metal " effect after done ??? Also, would one use future in the same sense as you would using flat paints with either of these "metal" paints ??? How about using the testors flat ???? Lot of questions, yet important ones. And, last question, although I know better, is priming the kit important when using either ???

As always, thank you all for any replies to this topic.

alclad says "polish if desired with micromesh" - which is sort of like buffable, but not in the sense that the model master metalizers are.

a clear coat over either will kill part of the metal brilliance, but that useually can't be helped when decals are involved unless you opt to leave them unprotected and can mange to remove most the carrier film so that doesn't show too much (it will also kill some of the metal effect like clear coats will).

So, I assume that using a flat, semi-flat or gloss will kill the overall effect of the paints.

So, which one is the better of the 2 for a more realistic "metal" shine look ???

Chuck,

Thanks for the link, that was a VERY informative page. Felt like I was back in a science class understanding what does what and with what. That was....outstanding. Thanks again, came away with a little bit more knowledge than what I woke up with.
