I started this project back in '03. I used the Accurate Armour full resin kit as the basis for my T26E4 Super Pershing. However, I went ahead and did most of converting and detailing with my own scratchbuilt parts. Basically, I converted the Tamiya M26 Pershing back to a T26E1 (which was the basis of the Super Pershing) and then I upgraded it to the T26E4 Super Pershing. It was fielded in Europe in Feb '45, got the extensive field upgrades and then went into action, killing at least 3 tanks in head-to-head engagements.

Comments, questions and constructive criticism are very welcome. My thanks to those who have cheered me on during this long project. Thanks for looking. RC

Wow - looks awesome. I have the Accurate Armour Conversion Kit to go with a Tamiya M26 in my stash. Will need to look through your blog in detail and see how they compare. Doubt that I can come up to your standards though!
Thanks for sharing.

Thnks for the kind words. The AccArmour conversion is quite excellent. Just note in my blog the items relating to backdating the Tamiya kit to a true T26E1 (engine deck handles, fender box dome vent removal, adding tie downs to fender box sides, working the drive sprocket housing, replacing the rectangular front fender fillet with a triangular one) and detailing the Tamiya kit (shock absorbers, drivers' hatch locks, maybe replace the track).
Add the upper and lower support arms onto the "batwing" armor as seen in photos (AA misses this item).
Good luck and feel free to email me offsite. RC

Are those some sort of hydraulic pistons to help move the extra weight on the gun?
I can't even tell it's a M26 under all those mods!!!

Really nice work, Roy. Looks like all that extra work paid off for you
I always liked that OD/Black scheme late WWII US armor had. Weathering looks good, esp on the tracks and running gear. Those code #'s on the front of the vehicle seem a tad bright, but more then likely its your lighting or camera flash ? That white ID panel on the rear deck is cool. Good stuff !
Cheers !!

Thnx for the obersvation Alpen. I'll take a look at the model under more natural light and see if it's too glaring -- it may just have been the camera setting.
Alan: Yes, those tubes were to assist the mantlet handle the extra weight of the long gun tube. Later versions of the T26E4 did away with that by using modifying internals. A full fifty of the T26E4s was made before the project was cancelled. U going to AMPS, Alan?
