You know that at times you are just missing something from your completed model, well look no more thanks to a new Italeri release.

I have never really looked at Italeri kits due to my continued support of Dragon and Tamiya, but at last they have produced a great little set that really fills a gap in the market.

The price was a snip, especially when the box contains two of the German Sd.Anhanger 51 trailers that you can show being towed behind your light vehicles.

Opening the box, lead to me discovering sprues with little or no flash on the very nice mouldings that will build into two very useful additions.

You can model them closed or open, for which should you not desire to seek out your own cargo is a supplied blanking plate, that is moulded to show fuel cans and other ancilleries as well as helmets, a rifle and tools.

Personally I will search through my spares box to fill the generous space and look forward building these simple additions to my models.

I think that they are excellent value for money and once I get round to building one I shall post some pictures, but I think that many people will find them of great use to their models.

John

Yup, another great kit from Italeri. If you overlook Italeri and just buy Tamiya and Dragon, you are missing out on lots of great models. Italeri has many great kits. Their detail is usually much finer than Tamiya's is as well with fine grab handles and other small parts. Italeri is a great company.

With a little more effort this could have been entered as a review, for a subject that is worth its weight in gold. I saw this kit recently and dinīt buy it, as I had nothing planned for it, but now seeing the pics, I regret that. I will the next time.
Build up the kit John, and do enter it as a build review, which is what all want to see. Excellent photographs of the sprues.

Hi John,

Couldn't agree more, a really useful addition at a cost of next to nothing.

Cheers

Italeri must be under new management. The thing I remember most about their kits is poor fit between major pieces and having to fill every single joint. On the other hand, they have made sublects not covered by other companies (so far!!).

That's funny most of the Italeri kits I have made are of reasonable fit and have not needed vast amounts of filler in major joins. You have also got to remember that some of their older kits are well over 30 years old now.

I have recently build one of these, and can confirm that they fit very well. No filler is required.

True, apart from the fuel cans, there are no fuel cans moulded into the cargo, just ammo cases(FlaK 38) and some other large boxes and two 20 mm FlaK ammo clips. These trailers are designed for ammunition, and fuel and ammunition don't make good travel companions... :-) .

As an aside, the trailer bodies are detachable from the trailer frames, a replenishment system used today (in a slightly more sophisticated way) by the British Army..
