I am glad to see this beast coming out in a more affordable kit. the track looks pretty good with out going Fruil. I'll see about getting one and wait for the PE to come out to start it
The French had some interesting camo patterns on the Char B1s. And there is a conversion to the German 105 mm artillery.

I've yet to find a reference pic for a captured Char B1, though
There is one in the the book "Panzer Truppen" vol. 1 by Tom Jentz. The hull gun has been replaced with a flame thrower and it is shown being used against a bunker in the early stages of Op Barbarossa. Though it is a b/w pic the B1 looks to be dark gray. There are more out there, this was just one that sprang to mind right away as I was looking through the book yesterday. I believe there were some still in use late in the war on the western front as well.
Cheers,
Mike

Does it come with any PE white flags?

Looking forward to this one. Great for a 1940's dio. As to figure I know Bill Chilstrom is currently sculpting some French Tankers so hopefully they should come out from Warriors.

What a brilliant reply! Wow "Mr. Ken Joy" (very original name by the way) I bet it took you a loooooong time to come up with that one.

Ditto Mike !.......maybe it's just to make a change for the "famous" 1forward gear-3 reverse" French gear box ... ( I've decided to cut the ground from under his feet just in case....)
Frenchy (who's a bit fed up with seeing stale anti-French so-called humor poping up each time a French kit is released...)

I always wanted a Char B, I just love the look of the thing and I'll definitely buy one.
Great to see Tamiya hasn't given up om 1/35 and I think they're being very clever with this release. It's a big and unusual allied subject that german armour fans will also want to buy - so everyone's happy. Apart from the german SP gun conversion, I believe some standard tanks were shipped to Jersey as part of the German occupation forces and some were used the Balkans. The AM companies must be looking forward to this kit too!

This will make a nice addition to my ever growing stack of kits. Looks like it will be a very nice kit. Something to break up the usually choices in armor.

For such an old-school model - no PE, no aluminium barrels - Tamiya seem to want quite a bit of money. The announced price on Hobby Search suggests that by the time its got to Britain, it'll cost £40+ Definitely one to buy online.
The built-up examples shown at shows don't do it many favours either.
