Hi GI_Babycakes,
Nice Dio ground, what stuff will be on this? AFV? Figurines?
Can not wait for the next!

oh, sorry! yes.... it will be "simple" : just men walking down the road with plants on either side. no action at all except them being on patrol. in this next picture i went ahead and added some grass clumps and the first layer of veg. made with floral tape. i need to give the plants highlights of different green tints for variation. next will be more ground covering and taller trees/palms

here are the tall palms i made following the instructions in the features section here on the forum. they were quite easy, the most important part is finding a tool to pierce into the wire, and also a stiff enough wire to back the leaves . the wire i chose was a little too thin, so unless i pierced the trunk big enough the leaf wire would bend.
might be a bit of a problem... my base board warped some ! not sure how i can flatten it out again without soaking.

WOW! Those palms look good. When you get all the foliage on there it's going to be a jungle for sure!

Looks good GI !!
My son just stood beside me watching your palmtrees and he find the cool! (That's a great compliment from an 11 years old who only intrest is playing soccer all day...)
But I agree; they look very good and inspired me to try that technique also for an Africa dio I'm planning.
Looking forward to see the final dio!!

OMG, it looks GREAT! You really pulled of the ground work. The dio looks like a scene from Forest Gump, the part where they are patrolling along a road and Forest said “ We’re always looking for a guy named Charlie” Last summer I bought some of fake vegetation and turned out nowhere as good as yours. Maybe you can explain it so I’m able to do it like yours.
It feels like bible camp…Only I’m not crying pretending I’m somewhere else.

thanks everyone for the comments! It was a really fun project! Mother, I'll write a step by step with pictures so you can see how it went together. I'm going to do a demo for model club next week so it should be no problem
