Hi,

I'm working on an snowdio during the allied counteroffensive in january 1945.
The diorama consists an M4A3 sherman tank and some infantry of the 6th armored Div.

So i wondered if u guys have some ideas for that dio. Everything is useful!!

Thnx!!!

Would be nice to see an iced over stream. You would make this by:
First buy a block of paraffin wax from your local craft shop or resource and a small stainless steel pot (cheaply).
Prepare your base carefully, build up your celluclay "bank" and paint the bottom in dark brown(S) to create the depth.
Melt the wax in the pot over a hot oven and keep stirring.
DO NOT BURN YOURSELF.
GET HELP FROM AN ADULT.
Once melted pour slowly into your diorama (which you obviously have prepared) and pour carefully but quickly in the center moing slowly out.
DO NOT GO OVER AREAS MORE THAN ONCE.
It takes several hours for the paraffin to fully cure or "go off" and settle to room temperature and harden.
You will now notice that the edges of the "ice" will have a opaque or hazy look about it and the areas where you have stones or other protrusions have realistic cracks.
This is the BEST way to simulate ice that I know of and is good fun.

NB, I take no responsibility for any injury resulting from trying this method, get help if necessary.

Maybe a short fighting pause with a cup of tea / coffee around the tank, cleaning their weapons, having a "P", talking to the commander, examining maps etc.

Maybe you could build a farmplace, where they could be hiding behind the walls / hedges....

just 2c

ey my bastogne dio is starting to look like one !!!! And as soon as i can borrow a dig. camera ill show u all the pictures.
I have a really cool method for making snow:

1. use some water/glue mix spray, and spray the base (wich you painted brown etc.)
2. u put some fake snow, you buy during cristmas to decorate the house or cristmas tree put it on the base.
3. than wipe most of it off using an hard brush so there is only a verry little layer left.
4. than 'snow' some talk powder on the base and wipe this of again. (keep whiping and putting talk powder on the base till your're satisfied!

Hope u guys can use this method (remembe it's my first dio so don't blame me if you screw up your dio )

And last .... i'm thinking of putting 'dragons teath'on the dio, and does one of u know if they where used is in the ardennes....and maybe some pics??? thanx in advance

There is an excellent article on making dragon's teeth elsewhere on this site. Just do a search for "dragons teeth" and you will find it.

Also check out the responses to one of my questions about Battle of the Bulge roadblocks in the last couple of days, one of those responses mentions dragon's teeth.
