Hi chaps. Some quick pics of the water tanker before painting. Some of the Eduard PE was used, 2 sets of US jerry cans (also from Italeri), a few scratch items and a few bits from the spare box. Its all in sub assemblies but assembled roughly for viewing. Any tips, comments or critic are welcome!

Frank I cannot quite tell from the photos but it appears as if you may have placed the PE mesh and surround on the exterior of the cab back window. If this is so it should be on the interior.

Passenger side exterior door handle needs fixing too as it appears to point upwards.

The rest looks good mate and even though I have never seen any photos of the water tanker with the jerry can rack and jerry cans on the rear mudguards it does not mean it did not happen. The jerry cans would have been either white or OD with a large white circle with a black 'W' painted in it.

Cheers

I like this old kit and you are doing it justice Frank. Looking forward to seeing the progress as you go along.

Thanks very much for taking the time.. Resident truck aficionados, Mr. Roo and Dave. Appreciate the feedback.
The rear mesh is placed on the outside ...don’t know why I did this...but I’ll have to live with it now. No more late night modelling I guess

The passenger door handle is actually pointing downwards; its fixed point is on the upper side.
The image below is where I got the idea from, but I don’t know if its a modern modification. It looked cool, and it was something that I felt I can add to individualise the model.

Ive used Mr. Surfacer on areas to make sure there were no gaps and to smooth out after sanding ... thats why it looks a little messy.
I also painted the bottom with granite paint and painted over with Mr. S again to give (hopefully) a natural dust/dirt build-up underneath.

Hi Frank,

Looks good. I am thinking of building mine soon (of course, I say that about all of my zillions of models!)

Please tell me all that Mr. Surfacer around the rear of the tank is not because of bad fit???

I really like what you did to the underneath. I'm just finishing the Tamiy Duce n a half and I haven't tried anything like this on it, but I've got the Italeri and Heller kits in the stash to maybe try it on in the future.

No its not a bad fit. When glueing the two halves together, they fitted well. I sanded down the area to make the fit almost invisible. Its actually Mr. S 1000 used here. It smooths out any sand marks and would show up any unwanted gaps or flaws.

The chasis and under the mud guard is pretty visible on this model. This just gives some 3D to the dirt build up. It also hides any unwanted moulding marks and the rather larger Italeri name and text. Also the holes for headlights etc. Hopefully when painted the extra effort will pay off.
