Dragon has quite a few sets of Vietnam figures in plastic. They are all 1/35 scale, which is the standard scale for armor models so they can be placed with tanks or other vehicle. They are about 2" tall.

You can check them out here. Scroll through the pages to see more.

Hobby Fan probably makes the best resin ones. You can "BUY IT NOW" on eBay.

If you get the Dragon Lssc, it comes with four special forces figs and a driver/pilot... with some great weapons too...
But Hobbyfan make the best vietnam soldiers - a few sets of Marines and some Airborne/infantry too...
The best Verlinden set is the three figures - multipose... still very available.
Historex in the UK does have a few Belgo Vetnam figures in metal and resin - but their stocks are low I believe...

Good luck and keep us up to date.

btw, modelshipwrights have a small craft/vietnam/indochina campaign which may be right up your street...

If you are going to work with the LSSC, and your diorama is going to be have combat I would just stick with the SEALs that come with it and maybe add one or two more from the other Dragon SEAL sets. You could also use figures from the other Dragon Vietnam special ops sets, LRRPs, Marine Recon, etc. These boats were Navy issue and even at that used almost exclusively on SEAL operations. And if you are only using the one boat I'd say no more then seven SEALs with a couple Brownwater Sailors on the boat for support. Any standard Vietnam infantry figures, some with more work then others, can be made into Brownwater Sailors, Dragon Marines I think work best for Brownwater Navy in combat.

To be honest with you, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with what it comes with. The LSSC is one of the best kits ever produced.

I saw some great pics (will try and find link) of some PBR sailors lounging around on their boat awning - relaxed trousers, gym shoes, t shirts and boonie hats - it doesn't seem uncommon for the sailors to wear comfy clothes whilst out...and remember, they rarely had helmet covers on their tin-pots on the boats, and wore berets too...
In his autobiography, "Brown Water Navy", Ronald L McAbee talks about wearing cut off shorts, plimpsoles and flak jacket whilst on board his Monitor... so maybe if you stole some legs froma British 8th army WWII soldier, and re-carved the feet/socks/shoes, you could replicate this sort of uniform...

When this post was active, 4 years ago, Bravo 6 wasn't in existence.

All -
Please check the ago of a post before blindly responding. I bet he has found the figures he wanted by now, or abandoned the project.
