Just posted, news about Tristar's future (May 2006) release of 35020 German Pz.Kpw 38(t) Ausf.E/F in 1/35th scale. An interesting development, and particularly welcome for those who are more attracted by early-war armor. The full story can be seen:

Now that just might be enough to tempt me to build a German Tank.......

I have some photos of one of these, though I am not sure which ausf it is, that I ran across in very cool musuem in a town called Banska Bystrica in Slovakia last fall. If interested let me know and I could email them to you. I will try to remember to post them up here in the gallery or in a general post next week. However I may forget as I am frantically getting ready for APMS as we speak.
The kit looks interesting. I am finding early war stuff more intriguing as the late war NWE stuff is starting to get overdone.
Thanks for the nod about the kit Jim,
Sean

aren't there another 38(t)s in 1/35 due out in the coming year as well? I could have sworn that just yesterday i saw some mention of another company (not Tristar) doing a new 38(t), but of course now I can't remember who...
...well anyway, I'm still happy to see this!

I like it also, even though, like Dave, I don't really build German tanks. I know next to nothing about when a particular Ausf would be used, but if these are early enough I see a lot of dios with this and the Tamiya Char B.

Just when I thought it was safe to put my credit card back in my wallet
I wonder is it possible to do this as a Czech 38T or did the Germans change it much.

I've noticed the whole early/pre-War trend as well. If they do expand, I will be happy to see the US M2 light and M2 medium tank series. Is anyone else noticing a trend here ????? It seems everyone is starting to go Pre-WW2 armor, tristar starting this trend, followed by dragon and finally tamiya.

Yup, the M2 series would be interesting to have on board. Heck any pre U.S. vehicles/planes are interesting to have.

It would be a great trend, for those of us a little tired of "Tiger-mania"...time to clear some space on the ol' stash shelf...

Somebody needs to sit Tristar and Dragon down at the same table and explain to them exactly how much potential is being wasted with this continuous squable of theirs. This 'mine is better than yours' mentality shown by these two companies is a detriment to the hobby. The Pz 1, the Pz IV the FlakPanzer 1 and now the 38t....... all released by these two companies and within weeks of each other. What a waste!

Well, I see this Tristar release of a Pz Kpfw 38t as a breath of fresh air. I do agree that both Dragon and Tristar seem to try to beat the other to the punch, but to me, the more the merrier.
Good thing its a Pz Kpfw 38t this time and not another Tiger I or Sd Kfz 251 halftrack. Not that these kits arnt worth having, but at least its something relatively new.
Both Tristar and Dragon have been releasing the same types of kits like the Pz Kpfw IV Ausf B (Cyber-Hobby/Dragon), Pz Kpfw IV Ausf C, and of course the Pz Kpfw IV Ausf D. Same thing with the Flakpanzer I Ausf A. Just name a few.
What I like about this, it offers the builder to choose which one he/she wants, and have something they like. You can even by both if you want (and have a big enough bank account)
Lets see how good this Tristar Pz Kpfw 38t is. Thats what is so good about all the in-box reviews on this site. It offers you a first-hand look at what the kit is like. Then the viewer can deceide which one they want to purchase
Thanks for posting this info, Jim. I will be looking forward to its release
Cheers !!
