I realize this might be a frivilous post but I had to tell someone. I tried out the scribed plaster technique that was in FSM a couple months ago. It worked great! I took a 1.69 picture frame masked it off coated it with 2 thin coats of wallboard plaster, gave it a quick sand and drew on my stones with a pencil. About 15 minutes work with a nail file and voila. A quick brushed on coat of dirt cheap deco-art acrylics (storm cloud grey/thanks for the tip guys) almost finishes the deal. I have to go to the nearst dollar store to get a couple different colors tommorow to darken up the cracks between stones and vary the color of the stones a bit. But i started this morning and and am just pumped that it was so easy and looks very professional. Thanks for all the tips and sharing of knowledge guys.

Good deal, glad to hear about successful methods. So your post isn't frivilous.
The more techniques shared the better the knowledge base.
Did you put the plaster directly on the glass from the frame?

I got kind of a sneaky trick to make loads of cobblestone sheets
its very easy
you buy one cobblestone sheet of vp produtuctions
you make a mold of wood for it
very simple base plate and the 4 sides like 2 L's that fit together with the sheet between it
then you go to a shop where they sell cast and rubber
you take the vp sheet and you make 4 to 5 layers of rubber just brush it over the sheet when completely dry take the sheet out the now ready mold put the mold on the base and secure it between the 2 L's then put the cast in it in like 2 layers let it try and ready it costs less then when you have to buy all the sheets
and when you want to make a side walk
just take a piece of the cast cobblestone and add a sidewalk with clay...
you can make a mold from that aswell
and then you have street and sidewalk for life :-)

Thanks Slodder, I tightened the frame up as tight as it would go with the little tabs in the back and put the plaster right on the glass. I used to work with a carpenter and had some experince with getting the drywall mud on windows, OOPS! It was dirt cheap and easy to do, now I just have t think abut what I am going to put on it.

I tried that same method while reading FSM for ths stone walls of my campaign church, it was fun and cheap. Also easily repaired by putting another couat over what you've scribed.
