I've been wanting to build one of these little recon guys for a while. Don't have deep enough pockets for the Tasca kit. That leaves Techmod, ICM and Mirage for my choices. In your experience guys, which is the better of the three? Are the Techmod and ICM the same kit? Also, Has anyone built the Verlinden one? I've seen a few of them on ebay lately for really decent prices. I've not seen any reviews on any of them. If anyone knows of any reviews, shoot me a link. Thanks!

Here are reviews. I've heard the Techmod is better than the ICM and the Mirage kit is a rebox of the Techmod one. I've got the ICM one and it is not a bad kit. At the bottom is a link to the Military Hobbis site where they state that the Mirage kit is the Techmod kit and not the ICM one.

Here is a recent thread I found concerning the Verlinden one:

I have seen the Verlinden one come up several times throughout the years, but cannot seem to dig any up. The tthread above pretty much sums it up though.

The Verlinden kit is a dog. Stay a way. If you COULD save up your nickels and dimes, I'd say that the Tasca/Bego Luchs kit is probably one of the best 1/35 kits I've ever seen, all in one box!

Like Roy, I recommend you save your pennies for the Tasca kit. It really is fantastic. It builds like a dream. Worth the money just to see how well it is engineered and executed. Easily one of the best kits I've ever come across OOTB and worth every penny.

In order of quality, it's Tasca, Techmod/Maquette, ICM, Verlinden. The Techmod/Maquette item is inexpensive and offer two different turret rear panels (the first tanks built used the leftover prototype turrets, which had a smaller hatch). That said, detail is softer than Tasca's, and it does need replacement tools (grab the Tamiya Panzer IV tool set) and a new gun, which narrows the price advantage over the Tasca kit. Techmod's also includes individual link track, while Tasca has soft plastic track, but they used slide mold technology to get beautiful indented track pin detail. The Maquette boxing includes photoetch engine screens (nice--apparently Aber did them). Oddly, the Tasca kit includes only the two smaller screens, leaving the large rear grill unprotected, but this may be accurate for some machines.
Verlinden's effort was pretty dismal, and the track and photoetch looked terrible.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'll avoid the Verlinden kit as advised. I have taken it off my ebay watch list. Seems everyone has the same opinion on it. I know the Tasca kit is awesome and probably the way to go. I have seen it anywhere from $47 to $59 and two versions. Seems like a lot of dough for such a little guy. I may just bite the bullet and snag one though. Right now I'm kinda leaning toward Techmod/Mirage with a grill set and barrel. Thanks again for the valuable info.

You could always do what I did: Wait for a good deal on Ebay. I ended up paying about $27 with shipping for the late Luchs. I'm sure if you are patient you can come across a great deal.
Edit to add: Maybe I was just very lucky on the Ebay find. I did a quick check and didn't even see any available. Oh well, best of luck.
After having built it, I'd still say it is worth ~$50. The kit doesn't really need anything to build up into a great model, even the band tracks are some of the best I've seen in that format.
