Hi,
I'm looking to find out what colours are used on a BATUS Challenger2? The colours are the same as those used on Salsbury Plain (sp?). Haven't Googled or nothin'
Thanks in advance

The BATUS Challenger 2 colours are the same as the Challenger 2 on the Salisbury Plain Training Area.
Both the green and tan change shades when in use. The green can be seen in variations from bronze green to a darker NATO green shade. The tan when clean looks to be more of a yellow tan and fades to a darker tan....straight dark tan would be too dark.
The dust in Suffield weathers the colours very quickly when the tanks are on the move.
As you can see in the image that Gino posted the mantlet and barrel show the colours fairly clean while the hull shows the dust and dirt weathering effect on the two colours.
Use reference photos when painting and experiment with different paint mixtures to come up with want you feel is best.
It's all in the eye of the beholder...and of course the thousands of armchair critics.

Thanks Gino and Jason,
I pretty much figured out what colours I wanted to use and as it's my model I'll paint it any way I want to..........to a point.
You know how we all need reassurance we're heading in the right direction...
Thanks again, I'll post pics later on in the month along with the M48 Dozer
Regards
Pete
