I was given a few bottle of Humbrol paint but no thinner comes with it....
I know that Humbrol paints are actually enamel...so testor enamel thinner is the best for them...
But, can I use normal industrial turpentine to thin the Humbrol enamel paint since the LHS I go to do not have the testor thinner for Humbrol paint ?
Please help

Hi Philip,
I'm using turpentine for years with the humbrol enamels and it works vey good. Turpentine which I'm using is for thinning the artists oils. You can use also the other industrial turpentine solutions.

Im using White Spirits to thin my Humbrol paints rather than the Mineral Turpentine they both work pretty much exactly the same except the White Spirits has a less of an odor and is less toxic. Humbrol supply there own thinner but it's in a small container and costs more.

Its true that Humbrol Thinner is expensive but it is different than white spirit and works beautifully as it seems less agressive when using it to make washes with. If you can get it, bear the cost I would say as it is really good quality.

I just use an industrial enamel paint thinner with mine and have had no problems. I just purchase a litre of it from the paint shop.
