hi guys,
I'm lookin for info on the "do it your self" up-armored M-113 like this one
Like how is it fitted to the hull, and if they only did the sides or did they do this on the front as well, in other words any info you can come up with and does anyone have any good photo's of this???

The US M113A3 has a series of threaded bolt holes running along the hull sides and on the cargo ramp. It would be "relatively" simple to cut out armor panels from hardened steel, drill matching holes through the armor plate and attach it to the hull sides using the proper bolts.

how difficult is it to change a A2 (I have the academy one ) to a A3.

Externally, it is pretty easy. Check out Pawel's M113A3 to see the external changes. For the interior, it is quite different. The laterals are replaced with a steering yoke and a gas and brake pedal. Also, there are sliding kevlar spall liners that mount behind the troop seats.

You can find a pair of A3 external fuel tanks in Academy M113A2 kit or in Tamiya OIF M113 kit.
