Done! Here is the Ertl/Italeri M60A1 "Aphrodisia" I just built for a commision I got while in the middle of this campaign...nothing like killing two birds with one stone! :-)

It is pretty much OOB, but the Xenon searchlight is from a Tamiya M60 kit and the mounting it went on is a modified Academy M60 piece. Power cable is from the spares box. Stowage is also from the spares box.

All markings were custom made, per request, from a variety of spares box pieces. Making white markings is nearly impossible and was probably the hardest part of this build.

Base is a simple wood plaque with plastic sheet as the base, textured paint used to simulate sand/gravel, various washes/drybrushing, and some static grass to break it up a bit. Cases and Ammo are from Tamiya.

Overall a fun build... all the usual kit fit problems, but nothing major. Now, off to my next campaign...(whoosh) :-)

Nice 60 Jacques, but i have one question. I know this is a commision so it may be that way, but i was wondering is the star on the top of the turret upside down or is that the way they had back then? It just looks funny. To bad you can't get a unit crest and his rank to put next to the name plate.

Great looking M-60!
The way you present it is very nice.

Well, the reference photo he supplied had the turret top star on that way...so I went with the flow! Maybe the star had to point forward inthe 1960's or something...who knows? Sometimes I have to do things on builds that makes me grit my teeth...

Also, he may have rank and unit insignia to add...he just ordered it this way. I am just the lowly laborer... :-)

As for the rest, thanks guys. I wanted to mess it up a bit, but he was very strict in how he wanted it presented. Don't argue with the customer, right? sigh.

It was a fairly fun build, fit issues and all. I am sure I will build more of these things as time goes by...this in only my 3rd M60 so far. They seem tobe getting popular as people retire or their kids leave home, or something...

The turret star is for identification from the rear. As friendly aircraft approach from the rear area, they are supposed to be able to see the star in the proper orientation. Although by the time of the M60 series, this was for helicopters since airplanes traveled too fast for any type of true identification.
