Hi...
My wife is building a sail vessel ship. The deck is pine tree wood. Any advices on how to obtain the best color for this, if possible with Tamiya paints?

pine like balsa wood when dry tends to be very pouris and will soak up paint. Seal it first with a thinned (say 50/50) coat of varnish and allow to dry for 48 hours. Then paint as you normally would.

Hi,
Ricardo, seja bem vindo ao ArmoramA (Welcome to ArmoramA)
Do not paint the pine wood too dark. The deck of sail ships it's from a light coloured wood and the frequent washes make it clearer. The best it's only to have some streaks to imitate some of the darker veins of the wood.

If the deck of the model is already made from a wooden material then seal it wish wood sealer first, the best result for painting something to look like wood is to start with a very light tan color. If you're using Tamiya paint than maybe dark yellow mixed with buff 1:2 ratio, or Polly S middlestone mixed with white 3:1 ratio. When that dries, your deck will look like a very light yellow color. Take some dark brown artists acrylics, like burnt umber and use that for a wash on the deck. That should give you a nice "woody" finish.
