I don't like it. just my opinion. i think the sci-fi forum will die a slow painful death over on modelgeek. once again, that's just my opinion. i hope i'm wrong.
i visited here because i liked armor, but i also liked sci-fi too. I'd check the boards primarily for armor and then briefly stop by sci-fi. I'm not likely to go to yet another dedicated sci-fi spot, particularly since the contribution level is sufficiently below Starshipmodeler.com, ReplicaPropForum.com, starshipbuilder.com... as well as the non-sci-fi dedicated sites with sci-fi-sections like hobbytalk.com, hobbyfan.com, aircraftresourcecenter.com, and culttvman.com.
i know i know... you can't please all the people all the time. I think Armorama has done wonderful things. It gets tougher once you get as big as the Big A has gotten.
Once again, that's just my opinion, and I think a few others share it..

It sounds like you already use and visit quite a few sites. This was one of my primary reasons for splitting the sites so everyone knows. When I have a staff member of a section of this site posting more on another site (dealing with the same topic) than they post on Armorama....well sorry but that tells me something. People like one-stop sites it's true, but they also like specialization. This goal of the network is to do both. One database, one userbase, one username/password for many sites all tied together and able to share content, photos, links, news, reviews, comments, calendars, etc.
I will bet the farm it will work. Given time. Not very many people thought a new Armor site was needed back in 2001 either. And failure was predicted... thank goodness they were wrong eh?
Oh and just as a "stats" thing. We have 40% more active topics in May than we did in April in the Sci-Fi forum. Let's see how many for June shall we?
Also EVERYONE... this is far from being completed. A LOT of changes are coming this weekend. They may make the whole thing make more sense for the skeptics. Or not.
Cheers,
Jim
