Looking for a "Indy" track set to replace the "rubber band" ones on AFV Club's M88A1.

AFV Club makes a set of M48/M60 workable individual track links (kit # escapes me) that are designed for this kit.

Thanks Rob.

I'll order a set from VLS with the rest of the stuff I need.

Thats funny as I recently bought two M88s.... one from Revell and one from AFV. The one from AFV kit came with indy tracks.
When I opened the box and checked out the instructions I had to make up a length as I never seen this type of track before. They are brilliant...... no need for glue. I too will order another set for the Revell kit!

Yes, AFV Club issued individual track links and some extra PE parts in the Vietnam era M88. They included reguar vinyl tracks with the modern M88A1 boxing and Revell of Germany did the same when they reboxed the M88A1 with some German specific details. I saw a diorama of the M88 with individual tracks and decided to buy a set for myself. They are nicely done and I wish they had included them in the modern M88A1 since I don't do Vietnam War kits as much as 1980-2000+ kits.

Can I use AF3510 tracks on my M88A1? I noticed that it had a different tread pattern when compared to the vinyl tracks that came with the kit. Here's a pic of the track:

No John, you have to use set #3505. The more modern T-142 tracks were only used on the M48A5, M60A1 RISE/Passive, M60A3, Sgt. York, and maybe the M60A2. Even when I was in an M60A3TTS battalion, the M88A1s still used the other type. Take a look at the M88A1 in my gallery and it has the old style track still.

MN ANG in 1996 had M88A1's with T-142 tracks...I had to break and rebuild two runs of it when the driver threw BOTH tracks and crushed all those wonderfull cooling tubes....Boy, what a mess.

And another thing, those tracks are HEAVY! Lots of muscle power to move even short sections of it in line to be re-bolted.

I do not know how widespread the re-tracking was. We were getting in lots of used ex-army equipment, and even some ex-marine equipment. We had just gotten a M88A1 from the marines still in that horrible light/puke green cammo in the style of the old MERDC cammo.
