No this is something you do not always see but it would make a great diorama. It is a Challenger II training tank that overturned on its transporter on the A31 near Bovington.

My guess is this is a CARRV and not a Chally proper. There obviously is a blade attached to the belly.

But you're right an interesting dio subject.

I wouldn't like to be the truck driver to explain what happened to my boss !!

You could be right actually. I had not noticed the blade. Yeah you can imagine the scene of him telling his CO what happened. :-)

Looks like the driver took the corner at high speeds....bugger.

This would be a perfect diorama for the Purple Hearts Campaign.

The headlight cluster and the shape of the bar armour would tend to indicate that the upset vehicle is a Challenger ARRV. I didn't know the Diehl tracks were being fitted to the ARRVs though - interesting.

Does anyone know about the deal on the Diehls (sorry - couldn't resist) on the ARRV? I thought a Chally 2 based ARRV was little ways out yet.

Thanks for posting the photo.

And the boss' answer "You are driving this huge truck, pulling a tank, and you were scared of a deer in the road?"
If it can be proved not to be the drivers fault, he might get off, but probably still wont be driving for a while. If it is his fault.....like you said, peeling spuds for the next few years. Three years of mess duty wouldnt surprise me.

You can not fault the dcriver fpr a freak gust of wind.....

Anyway, I would love to hear the phonecall from the driver to his boss... and also to the local towing service

If this is the one that went over last week (Wednesday or Friday?) between Bournemouth and Ringwood, that happened on a round-about... Typical case of uch accident is to high speed entering the roundabout, although I would have thought you would need to be motoring a bit to get one of these to move. Driver might have had to swerve to avoid a car (not unlike cars to cut up large vehicles on round-abouts... )

If it is the one near Ringwood, (well, hw many DID they roll over on the A31 last week? :-) :-) ) I passed it at about 23.00 on my milk collection run. Was quite a local attraction.

Any other pics?

Cheers
Henk
