The color was GERMAN GREY!
I suggest you clarify your question so that folk may understand it better :-) . For example are you wanting to know what brand of paint represents it best or maybe something else?

I guess i was after the type of gray, like the poster below mentioned, Panzer gray.
and since you mentioned it, what brand of paint does represent it best?

I have only ever used Humbrol Enamel 'Tank Grey' #67 or the Tamiya Acrylic German grey. How accurate they really are I do not know as I model mainly Allied vehicles.

Vallejo air #052 German grey or Xtracolor X800 Schwartzgrau (RAL7021) are good matches
