So many good things had been said about these kits that I finally purchased one for the stash. It arrived today and I've been thumbhing through the kit and must say I'm very impressed. though looking at the box, and more importantly, reading the side of the box, I must admit I laughed out loud..."The KV-2 characteristic is its quick-fried tower shape." Quick-fried? What the...reading further on, "Because of such weakenss, KV-2 is in actual battle, only used for proceeding to the virtuous soldier the thermodynamic power inhibit, but need not in the battlefield that hour of backstroke break war." What the fu..? :-)

Ya gotta love a direct, machine translation.
When are these companies gonna fork over some payrole and hire someone who has studied English (or at least 'American') :-)

It's one of the extra values you get from Trumpeter in addition to the kit...some free entertainment! :-)

Sadly they've decided to improve on their translation capabilities and the humor of the descrtiptions has declined, at least from what I've seen on the KV-1 boxes that came after anyway.

No kidding...though the kit is pretty sweet.

I had to giggle when I first read the box, too. Took me a while to decipher that a "quick fried tower" was probably a welded turret. As for the rest, ya got me.

I'd much rather they didn't hire a translator so they can keep their prices this low. Hell, I'd rather they sold their kits in plain brown wrappers if tha'll get the price even lower!! This hobby is getting more and more costly.

Naw. Wrap them in newspaper - even cheaper.

Hisham is ABSOLUTELY correct. Who the hell cares about a badly-translated potted history? I've got around 20 books on the KV, dozens of magazine articles/web articles and around three different files of of images of the KV. Anyone who's even vaguely serious about the KV should have the same...

As long as they are:

a) Good kits

b) Good kits with clear instructions

c) Interesting subjects

- wrap them whatever way you want Mr T. Don't even bother about the translation either...Jim :-)

I agree, there are enough so called experts roaming the web for any AFV that the translated text on the box is a waste of time.

That whole "quick fried tower" has turned into a joke that pops up at just about every meeting at my club. Darn, that is some funny stuff. It sounds like they found an English dictionary and just pulled words out at random. I wish they were still as bad as that! :-)

As said in Monty Python Hungarian accent

hmm.....quick.....

fried......

tower.....

If everyone here who has enjoyed Trumpeters' translations (I have the KV1 and it has some pretty good ones, too) wants a good laugh - then go to www.engrish.com . Guaranteed laughs.

this blog is funny as hell.

bought the Kv2 myself ( it's on kitmaker), and I must say great value for money.
I think of making a Kv1 like the one they pulled from that river near Leningrad.
Looks like a totaly different paint and weather challenge!

greetz to all
