Greetings all,

Would anyone know the correct MG mount to use on the following Shermans. By this I mean the longer extended mount or the shorter straight into the turret housing mount

M4 Mk 1 - large or small mount?

M4A4 Firefly VC - Large? (as per kit?)

M4A4 Mk V - Large? (as per Firefly?)

M4A1 Mk II - large/small?

If I use the longer mount with the square base is this correct or does it need filed off so that the mount is circular?

or doesn't it make any difference?

Hi Alan ..I think someone's got a british sherman planned ! :-) ..Most pictures I have of British shermans don't have the .50 cal mounted ..they found it got in their way when trying to exit the vehicle in a hurry ...but for the few that used them they were the standard .50 cal mounts used on all shermans...here are a couple of pictures ..

It really is more like they almost never mounted them. Combat photos of commonwealth Shermans with the .50 fitted are quite uncommon.

Yip, I couldn't find many pictures either and this explains why.

That's a question I've asked myself, why it is I dont' see any MG mounts on British tanks, or at least very rarely. Question answered.
