I,ve nearly completed a British Universal Carrier Mk ll and have still not been able to come up with an idea for a simple diorama for it.

All I've decided on so far is that I would like to place it in a Normandy scene of some sort.

Any ideas greatly accepted

What about a group of british soldiers that just have cleared a small village in France from the jerry`s
The soldiers are giving chocolate from their rations to the people and giving away cigarrettes. The population is celebrating this and winebottles are passed through.
Everybody is happy. A french farmer walks around with a french flag and the soldiers gets loads of kisses and handshakings

Wow....that'd be a great diorama.....if you could find the figures for it!!!
What figures came with the kit? Is it the release with the guy standing outside and the driver kneeling and the guy in the back with a canteen in his hand....if it is....that a nice diorama by itself with maybe a partial building behind.
If it's the recon release where the guy is talking on the mic and all 3 figures are crouching.....I also have this one and want to depict it in a bunch of bushes with branches attached to it as well using pipe welded all over the sides as attachment points.
If it's the desert version with the guys in shorts.....all I can say is....there are a lot of aftermarket figure manufacturers out there that make nice figures to add character to it.

I know the russians recieved some Bren carriers from the british as war aid. A dio showing it full of russians and with a star on the side would make an interesting dio. I'll see if I can find a picture of it later.

I like the idea of the civilians gathered around it. I do have another twist, however. You could depict a scene in a French village just after the invation of Normandy, and have paratroopers or other soldiers gathered around the vehicle awaiting their next deployment. The mood of the scene is important (tired, anxious, etc.), and you can use readily available figures in it, too. Good luck!

Would these have been used to transport injured soldiers to field hospitals or away from the front. Maybe a few injured soldiers as cargo would look neat in one of these!
Sounds plausable..... dont know if it actually happened but why not!

Hey, lets make this easy. How about the kit you already have and the Tamiya British Infantry on Patrol kit? The carrier in the lead with the infantry following. etc.
I have them both sitting here just waitng on the time to put it all together.
Just a thought.

i was messing around on the internet and i came accross pictures of some universal carriers in german services. They appear to be tank hunters.

I`ve seen that picture so often and everytime I thought by myself I`m going to built it but then I forgot it and built another version of the universal carrier. and guess what I have three now standing at home and none is this captured one
probably will never make it but nevertheless that would be a very cool thing

I like that idea Paul, whats the name of that site? Are there anymore pics of captured Universal Carriers on it?

There are several pictures of the carrier in service of the germans on this page. Including some that have been white washed and are cruising around in russia.
