Hi.

Am looking for references on the how the Mine Roller can be mounted on the M60A1 Patton.

The pictures at Prime Portal are helpful but some details are unclear:

- It seems that the top mounting plate for the Mine Rollers for the M60 are different compared to the M1.

- Some images show that add-on armor can be attached on the same mounting plate.

- Are there any other necessary items or devices needed in conjuction with the Mine Roller? The CLAMS seems to be an option.

Any help is much appreciated and needed. Thanks.

If I can find it, I have the old technical manual for mounting the roller on the M60A1/A3 tank. I can look to see if there are diagrams where the mounts need to be welded to the hull.

Thanks, Sabot.

From my observations, it seems that there is no mounting plate for the mine roller at all - it looks like attachment points are welded into the hull front as well as the "clamps" to lock the MCR onto it.

It also seems that the conduits for the MCR are attached over the small pipe that extends upwards from the hull to the right of the driver's hatch.

Furthermore - attaching the armor blocks may not be possible since it would get in the way of the cables.

This is what I can see so far - I can be wrong though.

I apologize. I thought I had the old mine roller TM that showed how to mount on both the M1 and M60 series tanks, but I must have tossed it when I got the new one a few years ago. The new TM only shows the mounting for the M1 series tank. We never mounted the rollers or plows on the M60A3 tanks. We transitioned to M1A1s in 1989, around the same time the rollers and plows came to us.
