What this sand colored box in the rear of the tank? Theres also an identical one in the other side.

Are these Field modifications for add-on stowage?

Whilst im no expert id say the box shown here is just a stowage box-perhaps aded by the crew or some sort of ODS mod-maybe one of the army guys can confirm. On the other side there is a box attached to the hull which is a telephone, these are seen on all M60's I believe.

Looks like a metal box strapped to the fender for storage. Nothing fancy.

Judging by the hinges, the box looks like a foreign ammo box. I saw boxes similar to those in OIF that were held 14.5mm HMG rounds. There really is not telling though.

I don't think the box looks like anything US manufactured and definitely isn't a standard equipment item.

As an M60a1 tanker, I too say it is just a stowage box. You could scratch it on for an interesting field modification / or not.

It isn't a sov-bloc ammo box.

It's on a USMC M-60A1 RISE w/ERA.

My guess it's some sort of accessory box for the TWMP or rollers.

But whatever it is, it's appears to be standard kit for that unit since it can be seen on several tanks either on the right or left side or both in several of the pics
