I was wondering if further information could be had on use of the M35A2 truck in its standard version, as a carrier of personnel, cargo etc. When and where used, colors, markings, etc. and did the Vietnamese themselves use those too, and if so how were they marked? Thanks.

M35A2s began arriving in Vietnam in late '68 to '69. They were used for general transport, cargo, etc. The ARVN, (Army of the Republic of VietNam, S. Vietnamese Army), most likely did not use them till after the US left and handed over much of our equipment. They were supplied with mostly second-hand and obsolete equipment, like the M41A3 tank, CCKW trucks, etc. I would assume they had markings similar to other ARVN vehicles, a yellow rectangle with black letters and numbers on the bumpers. Overall color was standard OD green.
Markings can be seen on this ARVN V-100.

Gino is correct. The ARVN's also had the M34 and M 35A1's. They were left in the OD and Green Drab that they were painted for the US Troops. They would change out the bumper and unit markings. We had thousands of the 2 1/2 ton trucks in country. We had a few M35 A2's in my unit as well. They were assigned to the chow halls, supply units, Infantry units and carried everything from water, beans to bullets. And a lot of troops as well. Some had the canvas covers on the cargo bed.

Does anyone make the appropriate decals? I was thinking of making an abandoned South Vietnamese Army truck, abandoned with a bed full of cargo, near the end of the war.

Never seen any ARVN decals. With a little research, they shouldn't be too hard to make yourself. Simply print them off on some white computer printer decal paper.
Good luck.
