Here are photos of my finished KV-2. I got a little carried away with Mig Russian Earth powder, trying to go for an extremely dusty, back-of-the-column road-march look. This was my first shot at using pigments; the next vehicle won't be quite so dusty. The pigment is a lot darker than shown in the photos.

Hello Dan,
Very nice KV-2. That is what I imagine Soviet armor to be when I build. Big, Green, Dirty and Well Used. I think you did a great job. I like the fact that you showed bare metal on the guide teeth on the tracks and on the end of the muzzle of the barrel. These would get alot of wear and I think you got that right on. The only "improvment" comment would be to show some exhaust stains. Doesn't have to be much but enough to show some hard use of the engine during the road march. Thanks again for showing it.

Best Wishes,
Walter

Very nice!
How did you use the powders?
Did you apply them with thinner?

Thanks for comments and the suggestion regarding the exhaust stains. I don't have any black powder so I will have to 'speriment.

As far as applying the powder, I simply put some on the model with one brush, and then used a second with thinner to smear it around. After it was dry I went back over it with a light dusting of powder to blend in any stain lines. This was a "paint test" kit so I wasn't too worried about screwing up.

Dan

Congrats on completing the KV-2 for the Big and Beefy Campaign. It looks good -- rough, tough, and ready to rumble. Good job.

Another ribbon recipient!!
