Well the first question is.... which Sherman? Remember the engine deck configuration and exhaust for the M4, A1, A2, A4 and A4s were different.
I believe Tank Work Shop or Tiger Model Designs (one bought the other I think) has a wading set for M4 and M4A1s.
You might be able to find someone with the Italeri Marine Sherman who didn't use the stacks. They would include parts for your choice of the A2 or A3 configuration

Hi Alan,
It's for the Italeri M7 Priest (early version) I'm building or should I say attempting to build!!!!!
The Italeri ones would be good (hint, hint hint!!! LOL).
I believe Tank Worshop did a set but I know nothing about this company or if their products are available over here in the UK or if they still trade.
Cheers

Ryan, I can just about manage with 1/35, fingers and eye sight just couldn't manage 1/72 LOL.

I believe the exhaust of the Italeri M7 is the M4 style and is not suitable for the Italeri Marine Sherman stacks

Morning Alan,
Thanks for that. I wonder if they could be 'made to fit' without too much work??? They look the right shape which is a start.
Do you know if the tracks on the Italeri kit are any good, as I also need to replace those and don't really want to fork out another £22.00 for individual link ones, and if I could use both bits from the M4 that would help keep the cost down.
Here's a link to a site I found which will give you an idea of what I'm trying to do. There was a previous build some time ago , but converting a Lee/Grant by a member on the Big A, Jim Lewis
This is the only reference I've been able to find to give me an idea of what the vehicle should look like. Great kit don't you think?

Any thoughts anyone???

I'd also be interested to know - particularly in the case of DWG for the Firefly. I'd also like some decent 1/35th drawings. Now I have the MM article from a year or two ago (Sherman III) but I really need some good drawings (preferably the official) schematics....Jim

Alan and Jim. I think my following observation will work for both the M7 and the M4A4.
I pulled out the instructions for my Italeri Marine Sherman. Based on the pictures if does not appear the rear stack would be too difficult to add some sheet plastic on the lower sides and bottom around the air cleaner area, especially if you intend to keep the sand shields. However the front stack seems a little more difficult. Both mounts for that come with the Italeri Marine Sherman seem too narrow. One would have to fashion something similar but much wider. Depending on your scratchbuilding skills (mine sucks) you might be able to cut one of these mounts in half and fill in the middle with longer sheets.
Remember I do not actually have the physical stacks (I used them on my Sherman) to test fit. I'm just looking at the pics from the instructions.

Hi Rick,
Many thanks for that - brilliant. Have them copied thanks very much. Hope I have enough skill to do the vehicle justice.
Alan - thanks for that info. Looks like the M4 will have to provide the donor kit and scratch the rest.
Many thanks to all for you help and assistance, it's very much appreciated.
Cheers

GHi Alan,
Yip that was great at least I have a clear idea of what is required there.
Interesting to see that they only fitted one stack, on Jim's kit he has fitted two. Just a matter of choice I suppose but they probably thought the top vent was high enough out of the water.
Making tracks for the little bestie now and just taking a break for a cup of tea - It's a nice little kit and I must admit I'm enjoying the build so far.
This one will be a challange that's for sure.
Thanks again for all your help everyone.
Cheers

Richard,
Anyway I could get those 14 pics, too?
Gearing up to try and scratchbuild wading stacks in 1/72 scale. And am trying to gather together as much reference as possible.

Ryan Wyckoff: Anyone ever seen the wading gear for a 1/72 scale Sherman?
Ryan,
Fabrizio Repetto, has mentioned to me a resin wading set for the Esci/Italeri M4A1 kit. It's made by an Italian company called AP Models. Here's their website, I think: http://web.tiscali.it/apmodels/
There's also Modeltrans' 1/72 wading set, you can see a pic of it at tracks-n-toops website:

Alan: I wonder about the stacks for the M7. It strikes me that on those fitted with the raised sides (for swimming -- not the hinged additional armor) that it would be extremely easy to have a vent fitting connecting the air intake just behind the fighting compartment. I propose that the reason you don't see two stacks on M7s with the raised sides that the intake was connected to the rear of the raised side. Does that make sense?

Hi Ray,
Yes I think it does. The diagram for the waterproofing of the top vent shows it just sealed off. Paul (aka Tank Modeller )was just talking to me about the same thing. Whether or not the connection went into the back of the riase armour or undreneath it I don't know as I havent see anything yet to suggest where the 'pipe' ran.
I just sealed it off until I find out otherwise. I'll post a couple of pictures of progress so far.
Cheers
Al
BTW: The M4 (Marine) stack fits really easily with only a small amount of alteration.
