Here are a couple of shots of my Revell Panzerhaubitze 2000 in progress. As you can see it has the base coat and beginnings of the track treatment.

This closeup shows the surgery I had to perform in order to fit the simulated canvas shroud around the gun. The sight bracket is molded too close to the edge of the gun mantle, which prevented a good join of the aluminum foil to the mantle edge. I had to razor-saw the bracket off and rebuild it with a little sheet styrene, in more of a 'T' shape. This gave me enough room to glue the foil down, and also matches the real vehicle a little better.

You can see a good side picture of the real thing at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PzH2000_houwitser.png .

I have a photo of one in the field with a good coat of mud and dust on it. Unfortunately I can't find the URL at the moment but that is what mine is going to be modeled after. However, I don't think it will be done in time for the end of the campaign, as this weekend is pretty full already. Maybe in a week or so...

Looks pretty good so far. I hope you are not going to use the OD green as part of the 3-tone NATO Camo though. OD is not correct for that scheme. The best-looking colors are Testors Model Master Medium Green FS# 34102, Field Drab FS# 30118, and Flat Black. These will give you the realistic fadad look of operational camo, as opposed to the new paint look that Tamiya NATO Camo colors give.

By the way, the mount you modified is not a sight, but is called a Chronograph. It is basically a radar gun that measures the speed the round exits the tube at, the Muzzzle Velocity. This Muzzle Velocity is used by the fire control computer and stored to use in calculating the best firing solotion so the piece can be more accurate.

I will keep the colors you suggest in mind for my next NATO paint scheme. I used Tamiya NATO green spraycan for the base on this. It looks OD in the photo, but is darker in real life. My photo lighting isn't quite right, yet.

The final paint scheme will be the NATO three-color one, in fact I'm probably going to break out my airbrush this evening. For some reason I seem to have this fear of airbrushing...

I'll get a closeup of the tracks for you.
